CG - where on old ore road was that picture taken ? I've only been on the south end ,as far as Ernst Tinaja - and it is a much worse road than that looks like. Just curious.

Not far past the Tinaja turn off to the north.  As with all the backroads in the park, conditions vary widely.

Ah Big Bend, we will soon return to reacquaint ourselves in our ritual of blood, exhaustion and dehydration. How can we resist the temptation to strip ourselves of the maladies of civilization?

That is what generally happens to an idea that surpasses its authorīs expectatives...it turns in to a great idea....I hope you keep enjoying this. :eusa_clap:

Now this is camping in the worst possible place to set up a camp...believe me. In the River banks of the Rio Grande. We were newbies back then. That second night,a small flow of current water ...not a torrent  hits us from up river. The Luis M. Falcon dam had just started releasing their flow, opening their gates.....Stupid, stupid, stupid. :-\

Not chickening out from a  challenge, we had two flat tires on the first time we went up the Caņon del Jardin.  (The ONLY way up to SDC by vehicle).

Even the locals were discurraging us from  trying to crawl up the Canyon. I hope to see you there with your Civics,Tercels & 626's.

The proof that it was not a fish story, but a true adventure that we the proper people. You can go up there too.

All good things come, for those who wait.

Homero

Stay thirsty, my friends.

Okay, this is not my vehicle, but seeing a classic 'Vette like this in the Park is pretty cool.  Turns out it belongs to a Park Ranger who I bummed a shuttle ride from at Colorado Canyon several months earlier (regrettably, not in this car, but a decrepit VW Rabbit).

Here's my rig on Glenn Springs Rd:
