I'm retiring the black truck. I looked at all of the 4WD vehicles that 2014 had to offer for almost two weeks. I was thoroughly disappointed so I started looking at used.  found a 2000 TLC (Land Cruiser) and I'll spend the rest of the year tweaking it for Colorado and Utah. In stock form it's fine for Bibe

This was shot when I was driving in last night. It has a long way to go but when I'm done It'll go anywhere I'm willing to go and then some. My favorite thing about it is that I can load all of my gar in it and still have the entire rear seat for passengers or whatever.

Nice dude!  I like that a lot.  What was the black truck?

Thank you. I love the Land Cruiser already. It rides nice and it's rock solid even with 150k on the clock

The "black truck" is my '08 Silverado Crew Cab 4WD Duramax. It's got almost 260k on the clock. The biggest reason for switching to the TLC isn't the mileage on the truck, it's the carrying capacity. I have a lot more room for in cab carrying capacity in the TLC than I do the black truck with the seats folded up. I still have the second row seats open with all of my gear in the back. With a new roof rack (haven't bought that yet) I have tons of room for things like a second spare, water fuel, tent, etc.

The trucks off road ride isn't what I'm looking for or as good as the TLC. Fuel mileage is about the same but diesel cost is higher (except in the park, prices were high this weekend).

I think I put this pic here already but I don't know how far back it is

Nice Jeep! Did you air-down for the rocks? Any sidewall issues on the street tires?

Didn't air down at all. Underestimated the road, should have though. No sidewall issues at all. Thanks for the kind words

This is an oldie.  1972.  The GTO, or Le Mans, or whatever it is, got us to Talley and back.  Slow and careful.

Here's a shot from this past weekend... Sunday the 6th to be exact. Note the upper center portion of the frame:

This was taken in that clearing just across from the bear crossing sign. Ironically I'd mentioned that I needed an updated photo since I no longer had the last vehicle that was photo'd when I had a similar bear/car encounter.

Every time I see that sign I eagerly search for a bear. Never seen one... Animal Whisperer indeed.

Nice ride!

That was the first place in the park I saw bears - a sow and two cubs - before the sign was installed. Around 1989 or so. Haven't seen another one there since.  :icon_frown:

A few pictures of the truck from a short trip Feb-Mar '14:
