Wow, I don't know enough to tell if that is good or bad.  I'd think bad, since they have less $$ to prop them up.  When I was a kid in the boy scouts, one Dad had a lifted IH Carryall.  Looked just like a Chevy Suburban.  Had a 4 speed with granny gear and oversized tires.  Man that was one cool ride back then.
Follow the writings of the old men, for they knew more than you or I.

Make sure to read the last three sentences of that article.

 From the article:
Quote
All said and done IF, and we emphasis IF these news bits are true, these are good things in store for the Jeep brand.  A return to the origins of real 4 wheel drive merged with the long awaited introduction of the torque of a diesel engine to these treasured true offroad vehicles.  And then we realized something.  This was JP's April issue.  Good one Trasborg, you S.O.B.

I don't even want to get wet dreams, if this is true. What a great marriage made in heaven, should this fall thru. The best of both worlds, i should say. Let us wait and see, please keep us posted on the outcome.
Stay thirsty, my friends.
