West Texas Auto Maintenance
« on: March 18, 2010, 01:34:26 PM »
I am wondering if anyone in West Texas can recommend a good auto mechanic or auto shop.  I live in Sanderson, by the way.

I have a 2005 Suzuki.  The nearest dealer is Odessa, and they just gave me a quote for a 60,000 mile tune up that made my jaw drop.

If you have to get your timing belt done its going to be atleast 6 hours of work.  Belt is cheap labor isn't
Continuous effort - not strength or intelligence - is the key to unlocking our potential.

The belt and labor both are cheaper than a new top end for the motor if the belt goes south.

Surely there's at least a Chamber of Commerce (or what passes for it) in Sanderson. Not a fool proof method but unless you can get a recommendation from someone whose judgment you can rely on, you pretty much are throwing a dart anyway. On the other hand, there's likely not a lot of mechanics to choose from in most west TX small towns. You'd probably be better served going into Del Rio
