How to Get There:
Via the Old Ore Road, 1.1 miles from the southern end near Rio Grande Village or 25.4 miles from the Dagger Flat Auto Trail. The access road to the campsite is 0.1 mile to the west of the Old Ore Road.

Usual Road Conditions:
High clearance is usually recommended. Sometimes the road is in good condition and will allow passenger cars. Following heavy rains, four-wheel drive is recommended.  Ask a Park Ranger for the latest road conditions.

Ground Cover/Shade:
No shade is available. The ground cover includes creosote bush, candelilla, lechuguilla, and prickly pear cactus.

Views:
Good view of the surrounding low hills and the Dead Horse Mountains to the northeast.

River Access:
None

Cautionary Notes:
This site is exposed to both sun and wind.

Remarks:
This is a small "cul-de-sac" site. Easy access from road and nearby to Rio Grande Village area.

I don't have any pictures of the site itself, but here are a few taken from the site one evening in early March 2013:

In general, the site is flat and exposed.  It is about 1/4 mile off Old Ore Road, but because it is flat, you don't really have much privacy from vehicles driving Old Ore Road.  It does not have a bear box.
