site designation ET-1 ET-2 Capacity: vehicles 2 1 persons 10 6 horses no no How to Get There:Via the Old Ore Road, south end. ET-2 is located 3.6 miles from the main paved road. The access road to ET-1 is 4.5 miles from the main paved road (approximately 21.5 miles from the Dagger Flat Auto Trail). ET-1 access road is 0.2 miles long and terminates at the trailhead to the tinajas.Usual Road Conditions:High clearance is highly recommended. Ask a Park Ranger for the latest road conditions.Ground Cover/Shade:ET-1 is surrounded by gravel hills with creosote bush. No real shade is available, but it is slightly protected from wind by the low hills.ET-2 is wide open and surrounded by lechuguilla and creosote bush. There is no shade.Views:From ET-1, good view of the Chisos Mountains between the low gravel hills.From ET-2, fantastic panoramic views of the Chisos Mountains, Chilicotal Mountain, and San Vicente Mountain.River Access:NoneCautionary Notes:High clearance vehicles are highly recommended.Remarks:The tinajas are in the wash near ET-1. The first tinaja (Ernst) can be reached by a 10-minute hike up the sandy wash. Do not swim or bathe in the tinajas. Water is not potable.A backcountry use permit is required (free of charge and available at visitor centers).
