I also use freeze dry Mountain House.  Also, oatmeal products, salt and pepper and instant coffe.

I picked up some Mountain House yesterday at Academy. Chicken & Rice and Chili Mac, @ $4.99 ea.  The selection at Academy is lousy though.
WATER, It does a body good.

I was hoping for more links to backcountry cooking tips when I started this thread.  Oh well, it's not too late.  In the meantime, here's an interesting cheesy baked potato soup recipe posted over on the Yellowstone Loon Page.  In case their board gets reset, here it is:

Cheesy Baked Potato Soup
1 bag (1/2 of an 8.4 oz. box) of Betty Crocker Premium Homestyle Recipe instant mashed potatoes (I suppose any brand would work fine)
1/2 C. instant dried non-fat milk
4 or 5 pieces of cooked crumbled bacon
2 Tbl. cheese powder (I use the stuff in Kraft mac. and cheese boxes after I throw away the pasta)
1 Tbs. dried chives
2 Tbl. dried onion flakes
1 Tbl. Butter Buds (butter flavored sprinkles)
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. pepper.

Mix all together in a 1/2 or 1 Gal. ziplock freezer bag. (I use vacuum sealed bags for storage, then transfer to zip-lock for mixing with water.) Pour in 3 C. of boiling water, push out extra air, zip closed and place in pot cozy for 10-15 minutes. Stir before eating out of bag. Makes plenty for 2 people. Now I need to find some sour cream powder for it, and it will be just about perfect.
