Border Wall Story
« on: January 25, 2017, 01:02:08 PM »
CNN story about Trump's wall with actual input from folks who live along the border, including some in the BB area. As an aside, I'd love to take a sunset flight with (former) Ranger Paredes!

Does a CNN reference call for a BRIETBART response?

Clarification: I'd prefer that we leave CNN and Breitbart off.

Not trying to get political with this. I actually think the wall is a silly idea. Just thought it was interesting since they included thoughts of people in the BB area in the article.

You and me both. He's a heck of a pilot.

I'm not a fan of the source, to put it mildly, but I think the people that were interviewed echo'd the opinion of a lot of people that live on the border. I'd work on fixing the system rather than spend billions for more wall...

Regarding the push by our President to 'build that wall'. Take a moment to look back at the history of manmade walls. Look up Siegfried Line, Maginot Line, and of course the Great Wall of China. Did those walls really provide any security or stop an enemy force? History says "NO"!

Fix the system by enforcing the law.

If a person on a legal visa commits a crime while here during their 7 year trial period, it is rejected, and that person is deported.  How much more so should that be for an illegal?

It is against federal law to directly receive welfare if you are illegal. They don't ask or confirm immigration status.

Reject the concept that we Americans are splitting up families by deporting illegals.  They did this to themselves when they came here illegally and had babies.  Personal responsibility.

I think most Trump supporters would be happy without a wall if America would simply enforce the laws on the books.  Ex prez BO and his sweetheart Miz Clinton both voted for the wall to be built.  https://www.govtrack.us/congress/votes/109-2006/s262

Sorry for not sighting Breibart this time.    Hehehehe......

For 2 years the Fake News Media, Obama's FBI, CIA & DOJ, and Swamp dwelling Politicians COLLUDED, Illegally Spied, and LIED to America about POTUS in order to overturn an election

All the while demanding censorship and removal of opposition Conservative "hate speech" voices.  Globalists Hate Freedom

Exactly- stop paying them to stay. We have a merry-go-round of give benefits to illegals, catch them when they come here, deport them (used to be, now we don't even do that), beef up the Border Patrol because so many are coming across (more money), give illegals more benefits, etc, etc

There are quite a few places where I think a wall / fence should be built. However there are a lot of places where building a wall would just be a waste of time and money (like particularly in the BB region). I tend to agree with we could do without the wall, but that we need to actually enforce our immigration laws.
BTW the whole "Mexico is going to pay for it" logic is BS. If we want a wall we should pay for it. It's
like if you have bad neighbors and you want a privacy fence, you don't go tell your neighbors "Hey I'm going to build a fence and you're going to pay for it." Now if Mexico is angry because we build and fund our own wall / enforce our laws, then they can go kiss our rears as far as I'm concerned, but I can understand why they would be upset about the "You're going to pay" line.

The Bend already has a decent virtual wall. Sensors are in place all over the Bend. And even through some locals dont care for BP, they do a good job out there.

All the facts necessary to truly make a decision can't fit on a forum like this. This is a very complex situation that requires a broader discussion. But in today's world we try to make something really complex simple enough for a meme or tweet.
