This has been mentioned in a few posts before, but it's worth sticking here in the links forum.

As of 8/10/06, the membership form at http://www.bigbendfriends.org/membershipform.html isn't working properly, so you may have to email them after you buy your license plates to get signed up.

I lucked out and they had some available at the local courthouse.  Of course, I had to stand in line for a while, but it was worth the wait!  Although, for some reason they moved my renewal date back to July from September (and allegedly prorated my fee accordingly).  I asked why but the clerk's response wasn't based on any logic I could comprehend.  :?

You ordered/paid for them in July right? - last month.  So, you get a new sticker for your vehicle saying that it expires next July.  You had already paid up until September of this year - so they owed you what you hadn't "used".

BTW - if you have a Pike Pass, Easy Pass, whatever - anything that is tagged with your lisc. plate number you will need to change it.

Ordered them today, just after lunch and received them a couple of minutes later.  According to my calendar today was definitely in August, not July.  For what it was worth, she charged me less than what my renewal form said, so it was at least adjusted.  Whether it was done correctly is yet to be determined (and probably won't be by me ... I figure our great state needs the extra few bucks).  Had I spent any more time at the counter there's no telling what the restless  mob in line behind me might have done with my new plates.

I got my BB plates last month too!  Like RichardM, our local courthouse annex (N Shephard) had them in stock so I got them right away.  NICE  :D .  I called first to be sure they had some.  They also changed my expiration month back 1 month, but also reduced the fee a couple of dollars.  Far be it for me to figure it out :? .  Anyway , they look good  8) on my F150.  I guess I still need to contact bigbendfriends.org to get signed up.

For those folks renewing their Big Bend license plates:
License Plate Program Changes
Are you one of the hundreds of Texans with a Friends of Big Bend National Park license plate? If so, you can now renew your plate online, at http://www.texasonline.com or at your local county offices. While these new changes will make renewing your plates easier than ever, it also means that the state is no longer forwarding the name and address of FBBNP license plate holders to our office.

When you renew, please let us know with a phone call to 432-477-2242 or email (fbbnp@hotmail.com), so that we can keep you on our newsletter and events list. And THANK YOU for helping and promoting Big Bend National Park!
