Mariscal Mountain DRG (Digital Raster Graphic) ?
« on: October 10, 2006, 03:51:13 PM »
Anybody know where I can download a free seamless Mariscal Mountain  7.5 minute quadrangle map?  It's the only one I'm missing for my digital topography map of Big Bend Nat. Park.  This site http://www.bigbendmaps.com/ shows it but won't bring it up.  Any suggestions would be appreciated :)

You can try the texas thris site:

http://www.tnris.state.tx.us/digital.htm

The mariscal quads have a thin sliver thati is on a special quad.  I was able to download the image file, but the metadata file was not complete.  It takes a while to find it, good luck.

I tried there a while back too, no luck.  The Mariscal Mt and Mariscal Mt OE aren't available for download for some reason.  Thanks for trying.

I downloaded o28103h2 with the metadata file.  This is the 7.5' quad of mariscal mountain.  Is this the one you want?

I also downloaded all four quarter/quad at:

http://www.tnris.org/NAIPSearch/CountyQuads.jsp?Counties=43&map.x=220&map.y=331

The only one that is a problem is the MariscalOSE which is the thin sliver below the Mariscal quad.  It did not have a valid metadata file that my software recognized.

That's the one, can't seem to get to download however.  Any thoughts,  when did you download it, if you don't mind me asking?

Several years back.  If you PM me with an email address I can send you the .tif and metadata files.  They are several MB long.

I found it online! Been looking for it for a long time.

You'll want all 3 of these files, so right-click the link and Save As...
The DRG: http://www.archive.org/download/usgs_drg_tx_28103_h2/o28103h2.tif
The TFW: http://www.archive.org/download/usgs_drg_tx_28103_h2/o28103h2.tfw
The FGD: http://www.archive.org/download/usgs_drg_tx_28103_h2/o28103h2.fgd

It appears to be a scan of a paper map, done by someone other than the folks who prepared the DRGs on the TNRIS site. It's also not collarless, meaning you'll have some cleanup to do if you use it to make a digital map. Nonetheless, it beats having nothing.
