Community presentation is Friday at Marfa City HallMARFA – Texas Tech University architecture students will present their findings from their study of the problems and potentials facing Marfa and the greater Big Bend area at a community meeting Friday in Marfa.Called ‘Way Out West Texas,’ the program begins at 5:30 p.m. Friday in the Casner Room of Marfa City Hall. The scope of the survey was to identify the issues that Marfa is facing, past, present and future. Each of several student projects conveys different issues within the city and proposes a variety of potential possibilities to address the issues identified.Housing costs and the potential for affordable housing also is being addressed. Students also developed a website, too: www.wayoutwesttexas .com.The survey was a collaboration with Mayor David Lanman and the Urban Design graduate studio of Professor Michael Mussotte at the Texas Tech College of Architecture.
