Interesting story posted on reddit, thought y'all might have some ideas on what it could have been.

Good, scary story. I'm not sure how much credibility it has, but I've never felt comfortable in Boot Canyon or Colima at night.  That area has always given me the heebie jeebies even in the day time.

Nooooo.....it's got to be a GRASSHOPPER mouse.  Forget the fact that mountains are not its habitat. I think this one came up from the desert just to torture the guy.

The mice and the ants are in cahoots at the BC3 bear box. The mice chew a small hole and then the ants pour right in.

Glad I’m reading this now. Stayed at Colima 1 two nights ago. Nothing but two deer and a fawn.

Wow.

I had not reported it before, but something very similar happened to my buddy and I during a December High-Chisos trip about two years ago.

We were at Colima #1.

Since we had gone down to Boot Pipe to water up past dark, we were pretty sure that we were the only ones up there that night - there was certainly no one at the Boot camp sites.

Shortly after bedding down (10:30-11:00) we both heard shuffling feet and stick dragging as if on the Colima Trail.

Since we are both grown men and have a lot of confidence in each other (and in our Glocks), and were within 10 yards of each other in our tents, the curious night noises did not disturb us.  We did not say anything to each other and drifted on to sleep

The next morning we did, however, do the "Did you hear that?" drill.  We both had assumed that it was a very late Rim  day-hiker struggling back to the Basin.

Yes, Boot Spring is about 100 yards from the Colima/Boot Canyon junction.

DPrather, I recall you posted on another thread that the Colima Trail was “magical”. Sure seems that way!
