Planning spring break trip
« on: February 22, 2017, 11:21:04 PM »
Hey guys
I am planning a spring break trip backpacking the OML. I am leading this trip with the UC mountaineering club. I plan on spending 4 days (3 nights) in the loop and I am having some trouble figuring out the best places to camp at while keeping the distances rather equal. I believe the south rim will be closed and I was looking at staying a night in the Juniper Canyon area, the Blue Creek area and possibly a campsite on the South rim but if it will be closed I need to find a different one. Any suggestions would be great with Camping and anything else in general!

Thanks much

Only the SE rim will be closed.   The bigger problem will be the spring break crowds.  If you plan your Chisos night for the end then you will have a better chance of getting a site.
temperatures exceed 100 degrees F
minimum 1 gallon water per person/day
no shade, no water

Hey there, you mention the spring break crowd. We are planning to stay in the park from the 14th to the 16th in a backcountry site and a willing to settle for any site as long as the hike into it does not require climbing or something extreme like that. Does it ever happen that all the sites in the park are full? If so, what can we do we do then? Are there any places to camp outside of the park if we fail to acquire a permit? Thank you!

Unfortunately, all sites may and do get taken over spring break.  Look at the Black gap management area and the Stillwell ranch to the east for other sites
For 2 years the Fake News Media, Obama's FBI, CIA & DOJ, and Swamp dwelling Politicians COLLUDED, Illegally Spied, and LIED to America about POTUS in order to overturn an election

All the while demanding censorship and removal of opposition Conservative "hate speech" voices.  Globalists Hate Freedom
