Best Route to Mariscal Mine

Planning on hiking the Mariscal Mine area on Friday, but I have to get their in one piece.  Anyone  have any thoughts on approach?  River Rd or  GlenSprings/ Black Gap Rd??    I have an FJ cruiser but will be doing this route on my KLR650 motorcycle....any thoughts or concerns would be appreciated...thank s

I would ask the Park Rangers Friday morning about River Road East. On a KLR you should have no problem unless there is really deep mud and except for the calcite hills you are likely to find a rideable path.

Less likely to get a flat on RR East than Glenn Springs/Black Gap.

Now if you want a "bit of fun" Black Gap is more technical.

Want to get to Mariscal Mine quick, RR East.

RR East is faster and less "bumpy".  I like Glenn Springs to RR East, then out to Mariscal Mines.  Maybe it's just me, but, other than The Gap, I don't think Black Gap is all that much to write home about.

Thanks for the help team...now I just have to figure how to set up base camp in the wind and with the cooler temperature, do I want to stay at a primitive site vs CBCG....
