Black Gap Road question
« on: May 07, 2016, 08:20:57 PM »
It's been a little over 5 years since I did Black Gap Rd from the south (down the drop), and almost that long since I've been on the forum.  My original question was going to be 'is there a bypass now around the drop off?'  It looks like it on Google Maps, if I remember where the drop off is.  Now, after reading a couple of threads, I also want to ask, did someone concrete a ramp at the drop off?  Lame.  That's no fun.   And I never heard it called "Pinch Canyon" before.  Is that the immediate approach to the drop off (from the south)?  Good name.  I spent more time dealing with that squeeze than going down the rock ramp that was there at the time.

Yes the ramp so to say was concreted in a little, but still about 3 foot of bare rock at the base are lose and exposed. I just did it this past march. Let me get on my pc so i can find the links to my pics. The hariest part was right before glenn spring 1, its rutted and real narrow. I was in a 2014 F150 4x4 and had no problems, but i did have to use 4x4 a lot due to some ruts and lose gravel/sand

This is the tight spot near glenn spring 1. This is going west to east.

Here's an image of that bare rock at the end of the concrete...
