Condition of Hot Springs road?
« on: April 05, 2010, 05:38:29 PM »
What kind of road are we talking about here?  Is it bike-able?  I've read "gravel".  Are we talking good gravel road or washboard or what?  Is it hilly?  Does it descend much?

Absolutely any car can make it down the road, unless you drive some car that's been lowered to the point it can't get over a speed bump.  It's not paved, but passable to pretty much anything.

It's a very hard packed road with a few short stretches of washboard and rocks.

Drove a PT Cruiser down it last weekend. It's hard-packed, a little wash-boardy, dusty, not much of an elevation gain or loss.

It's short, about 2 miles, so it's not much of a challenge for someone accustomed to off-road biking. The only concern I would have is where it narrows. If someone comes up on you in a vehicle, there's not much room to get out of the way.

The road should be fine unless you own an abnormally wide vehicle like a H1 Hummer or a dually pickup.  Definitely wouldn't take a motor home down that road. :)
