Motorized vehicle restrictions
« on: September 23, 2012, 09:45:17 AM »
I have been to the park at least 20 times since 1977.  There are not too many places I have not been.  I have even been places that are not mapped and have also been involved in a rescue/fatality.  My desire to continue to learn more has only increased.
Now I have a 13 year old son who wishes to take a motorized/camping adventure to the backcountry.  My question is:  Does the motorized vehicle for use on the backcountry roads have to be licensed?  We have a Polaris RZR side by side 4 wheeler we wish to use.

All vehicles must be Texas street legal, and stay on roads.

Go to Big Bend Ranch State Park; great roads for that, great views; more solitude

I'm 99% sure that the vehicles must be street legal there as well. Enforcement is another matter.  :eusa_eh:

I'm 100% sure it is street legal requirement at BBRSP and enforcement, well, let's just say sound carries a long ways and I sure wouldn't want to meet up with a ranger and his ticket book and silver cuff links.  I don't imagine the Presidio hoowscow is anything to write home about.

You need to go here if you get a chance,  I just got back from 5 days of ATV riding.  Utah is ATV friendly.http://www.atvutah.com/southern/paiute.htm

Thank you all for the helpful responses.  I will check on the rules at Big Bend Ranch regarding the ATV licensure.
