Spurred on by rains from Hurricane Willa, and coming on top of an already wet month, the rio is moving toward flood stage in Big Bend as I type this.

If anyone happens to be near the river between now and Thursday afternoon and takes a picture of the river, many of us would certainly appreciate it if you could post them here, along with the location and time of the photograph. Anything from along Highway 170, Lajitas, from the Mesa de Anguila, the mouth of Santa Elena Canyon, near Castolon or Cottonwood Campground, along the River Road, Rio Grande Village, Boquillas, or the overlooks into Boquillas Canyon would be wonderful. Thanks in advance!

Today's Daily Report, courtesy of Desert Sports. River flow at Castolon over 2600cfs.  At that level, the Rockslide is for large rafts only, piloted by experts. Or a really, really confident solo floater.

Happy to oblige, thanks to the WiFi in the PJ menís room.  I rolled in to the park just after the visitor center closed, then I got the last site at Cottonwood.  No problems getting permits this morning, still some availability for backcountry.

The Rio Grande at Cottonwood, Friday evening 10-26-2018, around 1000 cfs.
