Terlingua's Elizabeth Garcia has her first novel published, a mystery titled "One Bloody Shirt at a Time".  Elizabeth has written short stories for the Big Bend Gazette for years.  It can be purchased from Amazon.com.  Her web site is www.deputyricos.com

Just finished reading it.  It mesmerized me!  So refreshing to read descriptions of Terlingua and Big Bend that ring so true!

Highly recommended.

Her second, "Beautiful Bones", is very delightful as well. I feel like I have been to Big Bend again just by reading her descriptions! She really  "takes you there"!
Living so close to paradise, it is unbelievable.

I am an English teacher and my favorite guilty pleasure reading are books written by locals that are set in areas my wife and I visit. David Harry has a great series set on South Padre Island (full disclosure my wife and I have edited the last two).

I wish Hewitt would follow up Mariscal Canyon Dead.

I am reading "Beautiful Bones" right now by Garcia. It is so well written, keeps me on the edge of my seat by just hinting at something that "could go wrong". She knows how to weave a tale. Lovin' it!!

I've finished all three of her novels and enjoyed them. There are some situations and events that were a stretch, I doubt a deputy would do that kind of thing but overall, they were fun reads. Most of the geography and locational references were spot on from what I know.
