Title: Flora and Vegetation of the Solitario Dome
Post by: Alpine Montessori School on December 13, 2009, 10:11:30 PM
For the uber nerdy amongst us, Jean Hardy (Pittman) has made her thesis available:

The Solitario is a rare geologic structure that has sparked interest among geoscientists throughout the world. Hardy studied and documented the Chihuahuan Desert flora there in the mid 1990s, as a graduate student at Sul Ross State University, Alpine. The text focuses on the vegetation but also covers climate, topography, geology, soils, fauna, and human history of the region. First published in 1997 as a thesis for Hardy’s Master of Science degree in Biology, the book now appears in print for general distribution.
