Chisos Basin Site #41
« on: February 12, 2017, 10:20:50 PM »
Hi! I booked site 41 for a three day camping trip in March. I used the photo on the official booking website, as well as googling, and saw that "site 41" was a large site with a covered table. However, apparently the reservation.gov website never updated the image when they redid the numbers some years back, and so now I've learned that #41 is pretty small and has no cover. :(

So here is my question: Will a tent that's 10'2" at its biggest dimension fit in this space? The booking website says the site is rated for a 15' trailer, but I don't know if that means the pad or the road. I'm actually pretty bummed - I booked at 10 am the available day, so I could have gotten a bigger site, and it's not like I didn't research this. I'm just hoping I can bring this larger tent and not my small backpacking tent - especially since I won't have shade otherwise.  I have never been to this campground, and now everything is booked.

Thanks for any help!!

The attached image of Site #41 is from Google Earth. The line is drawn to be 15 feet long. Looks to me like the site will handle your large tent okay.  Your car will have a good parking spot and act as screen to give you some privacy. No worries, you will have a great time!  ;)

Attached is a picture of when that site was number 47.

This picture on ReserveAmerica seems to be a generic picture.  :icon_rolleyes:

I do believe I've stayed in that site.  It was fine for my 12'x12' tent.
