Do ya think Sul Ross would take on this ol gal? I wouldn't mind living in Alpine for a while and driving to the Bender to measure pressure in the Sotol, LOL

I bet they would be more than happy to take your money.  Just remember Alpine is a tiny bit smaller than San Antonio, so small there is not even a Wally-World there.  You'd have to drive the Fort Stockton for the Wally-World and it's not even a super Wally-World.  Then, Midland/Odessa would be where you gals would like to shop - maybe.  I'm sure living in Alpine would be nice, I think it's a nice town.  But, to be honest, I'm afraid you/me we'd get there and get caught up in everything locally for rarely make it to the Bend.  When I moved back to East Texas I had grand plans of being on the hiking trails, at the lake, camping all the time - yea, right.  Plus, I tend to imagine the wages are just a little bit lower in Alpine than San Antonio - being a college town and everything.

Don't let anyone fool you that the cost of living might be lower, that's what I thought when I moved back too.  Gas is more expensive here, milk/bread/etc. are all about the same.  Insurance is lower and housing is lower.

How many times do I hafta tell ya.....I'm not like other gurlz!
(bananarepublic.com & REI.com....and UPS man, all's I need)

LOL, I do know what you're talking about, though....But at this stage of my game, it's really just about CHOICES.....not $, or any other factors. If I want to make somethin happen, it's going to. Merely taking the initiative.

About VIPER.....I think he's having a blast!!! :D  Right now he's catchin up on much needed sleep (5 gurlz!!!!!)
Hecks, 1 of ME would be enough!  \:D/ MUAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA MUAHAHAHAHAHHAAA

Not Much Better Today
« Reply #17 on: February 24, 2006, 04:18:28 PM »
I wonder if all the employees at BBNP think we are all a bunch of nut cases - they sit around the lunch table or the water cooler and go "can you believe that sh*t that they post on that board?  Or, have you seen this Chios_Muse?  And, I wonder about that BobCat Guy - better keep an eye on him.  Or, better yet, if you see Dumas coming, alert the rangers and border patrol, might need to pull him over and search that vehicle a few times....

Poor Viper,  Not much to see out there today.  I'm glad I'm not there -

Rock Hound...
« Reply #26 on: February 26, 2006, 10:51:06 PM »
Ah, should have known a rock hound major.  Probably a good time for those, I bet the job opportunities are pretty good with oil pushing $70bbl.  The job market would really have been hot if they had of blown up that oil refinery in Saudi last week - you were gone and probably didn't hear about it :!:   Analysts said that oil would have shot to $100bbl if the attack had of gone through.  At that price, I couldn't afford to drive across the street, let alone 12 hours to the West Texas Trans Pecos Big Bend Region.   :D

One of my roommates in college and good friend was a rock hound and I knew quite a few of the people in the program, there were even some female rockhounds.  See Muse, you can be a rockhound too.

Muse, SFA has a pretty good geology program I understand.

from what i saw, there won't be anythign technical about it, just surviving the push through the thick brush  :( i asked every ranger i talked to about the old Ward Mtn trail that was posted in an old park guide here, but they were just as clueless as i was. i'm going to spend a night at the LM backcountry sites next trip, and just spend a whole day looking for the trail. it would be cool to find it an re-establish it. I'm not sure why they closed it either. it couldnt' be any worse than emory's 3rd class pitch, and you would have magnificent views to the west. the only reason i could think of for closing the trail is its proximity to Cattail Canyon  :x
