Site with all the NPS visitation statistics 1979-2018

Some really great charts here.

Not really intuitive but you can see some really cool trends, etc.  It starts with all the parks lumped together.  To get to an individual park click on the bottom bar, click on all to clear it and then click on the park.  It will then give you the total stats for that park 1979-2018.  To get individual year stats hover over the campers by year line chart and click on what ever year you want and it will reset to that year.  If you want to check out an individual month then click on a month in one of the charts on the far right.

It is interesting that while the general trend for visitation at Big Bend has gone up over time that starting about 1994 all campers had fallen off dramatically until about 2012 when it skyrocketed  until 2017 and then it crashed in 2018.  Maybe folks are tired of driving so far and not being able to get a campsite.

Backcountry campers peaked in 1994 at 54,000, dropped all the way to 15,600 in 2012 before a steep climb up to 42,500 in 2017 and then plunging to 23,800 in 2018.  It will be interesting to see the stats for 2019 and 2020 to see if the drops continue.

Pretty cool.

Iím not convinced of the accuracy/consistency of data collection and quality year to year.

Call me stupid, but I can't get the stats for BIBE only.   The drop down list doesn't update the data to the check marked park.  What am I missing?

Check All at the top to clear the list, it takes a second to do so, then check Big Bend and it should come up in a second.
