50 Yr Celebration
« on: March 29, 2006, 07:49:43 AM »
This is how I like to spend my first evening in Big Bend.  This is the desert mountain overlook off of Ross Maxwell Scenic Drive down toward Santa Elena.  When I take people, I like to stop here on the first night and watch the sunset.  The mountains turn to an orange then a pink or purple.

I do want to explain something about this picture.  You will notice something sitting between us on the ground.  I have three brothers and we are all a year apart.  I am the oldest and was born in 1956.  My youngest brother (#4) was born in 1960.  We are all close.

I turned 50 last March 11 and my "creative" brothers all pitched in and bought me a brass trophy that is about 24" tall (that is what you see in the photo).  There are rules for this "trophy".  It is called the "Holy Grail" and we are going to treat it like the Stanley Cup.  I will have my name engraved on it and pass it to the next brother when he turns 50.  Also when we have the trophy, we are supposed to take it some place special.  I chose Big Bend.  So,.. the Holy Grail has been to Big Bend!!!
