Title: Cattail Falls Hike
Post by: bam.bam on June 01, 2018, 09:05:41 AM
BB Team, do you thing it would be breaking any rules if a person road a bike from the gate to the trailhead  and then parked it out of the  way at the trailhead. Just wondering, really dont want to hike the gravel road. If no rules are broken, do you think it would bother other hikers seeing a mechanical object.

Bikes are allowed on roads. It is still a road. Me dos centavos...

However, the Park might interpret the current closed gate and posted signs to mean "authorized vehicles only", which of course I think would likely include bicycles...

Not to be rude, but if the idea in closing the road is to make the trip more difficult and thereby cut down on traffic to and help preserve an endangered and valuable oasis*, then I'd be surprised if they said bicycles would be ok. Based on the reports on BBCh of the crowds and littering prior to the road closing I tend to agree with them on this one.

* seems to be my word of the day

You could always ask the park...

I agree with the protection of areas but I also believe in the use of the parks. A bike is not going to damage a dirt road.
