I took this pic on the Lost Mine Trail back in 2004.  Does anyone know what type of flower this is?  I suppose I could look it up...but...

I think I found the original version in my personal archive of pics uploaded to http://www.bigbendgallery.com/uploads/

This isn't the first time a file has been overwritten and won't be the last... :icon_rolleyes:

Now we're talking ... how high up on the trail were you when taking this photo? The reason I ask is that the vegetation changes the higher you go.

Scarlet Gilia (Ipomopsis aggregata), I believe.

Also taken on the Lost Mines Trail (last September). This stuff was all over the place, although I started seeing it in abundance above the Juniper Canyon overlook as I hiked up.

Lovely! Thanks for sharing the photo and the info. So this is a Fall flower. Love the color and composition.

I wouldn't call it a fall flower as much as I'd call it an "after it rains" flower. I've seen it bloom as early as March and as late as November.
