January Trip...
« on: February 21, 2009, 08:29:53 AM »
DivShare File - bigbend.wmv

Bunch of photos from our January trip.  First time I've ever played with Windows Movie watchamacallit.  Didn't come out too pretty as I got tired of messing with it, but here it is anyway.  Mix of shots from phone and digital camera.

What's seen
Trail to Bruja Canyon
Tuff Canyon
River road to Presidio and on to Chispa Drive
Capote Falls
Pinto Canyon on to Marfa

Haven't logged in for some time so sorry about the VERY late response...

Wow Capote Falls !!  How did you swing that ??

A member of our camping party works with a guy whose family owns a number of sections of  land out there, including the the spot with the Quonset hut/trailer on the road up to ruins/trail to the falls.

Good work on the photo sideshow.

How far North did you travel from Candelaria?  I know of a few guys who have ridden their dualsport bikes the entire Chispa road from Lobo to Candelaria.  I would like to know if a 4x4 could make it?

Thanks

I went to Capote about 20 years ago, what a magical spot. My friend knew one of the local Ranchers and they very graciously gave us permission.
my photo is at: http://www.flickr.com/photos/14890552@N06/1544406826/

Also what the church in Ruidosa looked like then.

Justice William O. Douglas wrote about Capote in his book, Farewell to Texas, a great old book about the special parts of Texas.
