Well this thread was inspired from another thread where Randell talked about his Step-Dad, Alfred Alley. Being a texas ranger that he was , i felt in dire will to show you my side. This the
thread here
With that said, this is my grandfather;
Adolfo Jimenez
. He was born in Pico Etero,Coahuila. Very near the Big Bend area, on the Mexican side. Maybe that is why I love the area so much. He was a
Federal Police
, or what we all call a Sheriff.
My grandmother use to tell me that, when robbers, cattle hustlers,outlaws...and plain old Bandidos jumped the river after being followed; the Texas rangers would call on Adolfo Jimenez for his assitance. I truly don't know much about my Grandpa's life as a Sheriff, but seeing all that rugged terrain and hearing the stories of those outlaws and all, i bet he had a very interesting life.
This picture was taken in his mid 20's earley 30's. Just wanted to share this with you.

I love the story but can't see the photo! :(
All of my ancestor stories come from "the old country" of Eastern Europe...farmers and gypsies and such... 8)

Another Great photo, do you know the approximate date of the photo and where it might have been taken? Very cool, looks like he was pretty well armed. 8)

Since he was born in
1902
, he was around 25-30 years old. So that puts him in around
1927
...
1932
. That picture was taken in Nueva Rosita,Coahuila. Mexico Where he met my grandmother.
According to my late father, those (3) guys behind him were his deputies, let me see if i can dig up some very interesting pictures of his time as a sheriff..you are going to love them.

Let me show you a Google picture of
Pico Etereo
, this will give you an exact idea of where was he born and how close it is from
Big Bend
.
What i do remember from him is that around that time, the border was a word, and people crossed over back and forth as they need it. They knew each other very well: Around the ranches and in Mexico.
He use to tell me, take in mind i was 5 years old when he past away, that when he was in
"Las Montaņas"
, he felt free...in heaven, and those words were chiseled in my forehead , for eternity.
Everytime i go there, I take a moment and God as my witness, i feel his presence around me. I know from personal experience what he meant, and i also know that no one in my family understands that because no one has gone to the birthplace in Pico Etereo, it is so difficult to get there.

Well
Randell
, it was you who inspired me to put it up here.
Hey, this thread is open to anyone who has a picture of any friend or relative who might have lived around the area we all love very dearly and share their stories. Picture or not.
I sent this link over to my entire family, they are very happy to see this and loved the idea of sharing his life around the mountains with you all. I hope i get more pictures about him, and will post them here.
