I always thought it had to do with Paisano Pass even though Paisano Pass is nowhere near Ft Stockton.  Paisano translates to "Civilian".  Not really sure why he is called Paisano Pete.

Al Gores Internet  is full of information, you just have to dig it out, learn how to interpret it, and determine if the information is legitimate - verify your sources.  Your assignment xseption is to discover why it is called Paisano Pete and report back.   In less than thirty seconds I was able to determine a wealth of information about Paisano Pete and why they changed the sign on him.  You to can discover this information - the beauty of Big Bend Chat and other boards is the "spreading of knowledge".  Please don't simply ask a question, find the answer and post the question.  This is like Jeopardy.   :eusa_angel:

Question 1.
What is a Paisano?

Question 2.
What is the statue named Paisano Pete?

Question 3.
Why did the City of Fort Stockton have to change the sign on the roadrunner to "Welcome to Fort Stockton"

Question 4.
Who was Pete?

Four questions, 25 points each.  You must make a B or better to pass my course.  Thus, you must answer all questions correctly.   :eusa_angel:

:eusa_doh: Of course! Why didn't I think of that? One thing for sure, digital lemon juice does not reveal digital invisible ink. I tried and all I got was a digital citrus squirt in the eye.

Keep digging.  It's all in how you structure the search terms and the engines that you are using.  Don't think for a minute that if it's not on Google, it doesn't exist...

a paisano is a roadrunner.  it also translates to "countryman."  was not able to find where the "pete" comes from, but i did find out he's 20 ft. long and 11 ft. high, and i'm guessing he's the world's largest roadrunner.

Wait a minute, that is exactly the case. Check out this article  :willynilly:

Google Announces Plan To Destroy All Information It Can't Index
http://www.theonion.com/content/node/40076

This was announced Aug 31, 2005 so they should be pretty much done by now.....meaning that if it's not on Google, it doesn't exist.

The Onion is a respected alternative news reporting source, where you get the stories no other paper has the courage to print.

Not anymore. The roadrunner along I-10 just west of Las Cruces NM is bigger.
