Anyone know where to get one of these?  They don't sell them in the park.

If you find one, make sure it doesn't obscure any part of the license plate.  Some law enforcement agencies have been writing tickets for it, depending on how much they need the revenue.  Even if it's just covering up part of the word TEXAS, they can ding you.  :(

I'm not sure I've ever seen a Big Bend license plate holder/frame.  However, Google turned up this used Big Bend plate that went for over sixty bucks on Ebay:
Big Bend National Park real License Plate

Yet another reason to get a Big Bend plate (see here for details).  After it expires you can sell for big bucks on Ebay!

I should get replacement plates every year for $8.00 that is a heck of a profit...  You can even order them from the state with our paying to have them on your car...

Richard...
You are right.
I just had a little dent taken out of the back of my 4Runner and when I went to pick it up my "Del Rio, TX " license plate frame was gone.

The company said they take them all off now since it is against the law and more and more people are getting ticketed for it.

I still see them on so many cars though, that I would be surprised if a person would just get a ticket for that.
Seems to me it would be one of those deals where you get pulled over and the policeman let's you go on your speeding but writes you up for you "illegal license plate frame."

Almost like an add on for extra revenue.
Like, "Can I get you any dessert or coffee?"

My guess is, it gives police an opportunity to stop vehicles without probable cause.  They can use the license plate holder excuse.  "Officer, I wasn't speeding, I wasn't doing anything wrong."  "Your license plate holder is illegal, now I'm going to search your car."

What gets me, is crotch rockets can have their license plates mounted way up under the fender tilted at an angle so you couldn't even read the plate from 5 feet away and the state doesn't seem to care about this.

I have a box of about 1000 plastic frames left over from a job that have a name screen printed on them.  The name can be covered with a full color digitally printed decal - anything you can imagine I can print and apply.  Suggestions?

This might interest the 'Friends of Big Bend' in San Antonio.  They put on a run every winter in Big Bend and this might go along with that event.

David Locke might have some thoughts.

Hmmm, I am not sure anything needs to be on it other than "Big Bend National Park" at the bottom using a cool but readable font with some golden color to it and I think it should be made of metal.  I don't think anything else would fit.  I think the most famous mountain scene in the park is Casa Grande, but that might be hard to fit on a license plate holder and might not be identifiable enough since it might just look like a block since it would be so small.  I think the next best thing would be an ocotillo but that might not fit either.

Matador,

I asked at two of the gift shops and both said they didn't have them.  What does yours look like?
