Car camp site capacities???
« on: November 07, 2012, 08:31:10 AM »
I am looking for info on how many people and cars are allowed at each site for car camping.  For example, I think Pine Canyon #4 can have 2 cars and 6 people only.  Pine canyon #2 is bigger and I know I have seen more people camping there at one time than #4.  Anyone run across the limits for the car sites?  I have some friends who may make it down next time we go and I want to do as little as posible to get the Federalies attention.   :engel016:

I could've sworn that information used to be on the Backcountry Roadside Campsites page, or at least accessible from there. Looks like they've moved that info off somewhere else or removed it entirely. I'd recommend contacting the park and see if they can provide any details.

Check out these archived versions:
http://web.archive.org/web/20101107043724/http://www.nps.gov/bibe/planyourvisit/roadsidecamps.htm

and
http://web.archive.org/web/20100530032017/http://www.nps.gov/bibe/planyourvisit/roadsidecamps_pc.htm

Of course, since the NPS currently does not provide that information on their website, the limits may very well have changed. Unless Eric moves back to the park and takes over the Webmaster position, it looks like the only way you'll get any definitive answers is to contact the park. Good luck.

Look in the Superintendent's Compendium, Appendix B, Pages 3-5.  :icon_cool:

You rock!  Thanks.  Unfortunately it seems it hasn't been undated in a few years.  No Pine canyon #5, Rice tank  only has one spot now.  Either way it does help my cause.   :13:
