Rockhounding at the Stillwell Ranch
« on: August 28, 2019, 09:33:07 AM »
I'm posting this as more of an FYI. The Stillwell Ranch no longer allows rockhounding. I would stop by the ranch just about every time I visited BBNP and collect a bucket of specimens pay for them at the store. They used to let you drive anywhere on the property that your vehicle to access. For years the only thing we'd be told was to not cross a fence. The last few years we were restricted to the campground area, which was horrible but at least it was something. But as of my visit on 8-26-2019 they no longer allow pay by the pound rockhounding at all.  :icon_cry:

I realize the property has been chopped up and sold but I was holding out hope that there'd be an area that be open to collecting specimens.

sigh
