Visibility is pretty low in Marathon:

Usually I can see a windmill and mountains in the distance, but today it is just the wires overhead.

I wish the window web cam was still active! I used to check it every day.

This is exactly what I was thinking.  He and I looked at the upcoming weather when we ran into each other.  There were some cold days coming up but nothing like that.

Question: how many inches of snow equals how many inches of rain?

Question: are the High Chisos getting any?
Leave "quit" at the car.  Embrace the trail as your friend.  Expect to enjoy yourself, and to be amazed.

Depends upon the moisture content.

I would think if the Basin is getting snow, the higher elevations would as well.

His last adventure involved some inclement weather, too, didn't it?

He will be fine.  Yesterday he should have been in Telephone canyon, down low, and today walking down Ernst Basin, I would be surprised if there was much snow that far south in the park, cold and damp but not horrible. I will know more tomorrow..

Interestingly PJ and RGV both show more precipitation (.75") than the Basin (.55") but can't tell how much is frozen

I am in Del Rio now, rain with some snow but it was snowing like hell in Uvalde when we drove through

Think your correct. House always seems to have a rabbit hiding to pull out when needed and amaze us with his travels.
