Yeah, I bet you'd be hard pressed to find a saguaro anywhere near Boquillas.  Any found in the Big Bend area were probably imported by yuppies from Arizona.  Someone once posted (maybe on the old page?) a picture of the inside of the lodge cabins from long ago that had a saguaro pattern on the curtains.  Someone was kind enough to point out that they're native to the Sonoran Desert, not the Chihuahuan.  It's Monday, so for some reason I find the idea of a saguaro on a walking stick from Boquillas to be especially funny.

I think that was me who made the comment about the curtains? Anyway, I've never heard of any in the Bend. I believe they only grow in the Sonoran.....

There's no saguaros in Boquillas because the Anti-Sahuaristas are ever alert to alien invasion (and Sahuaro is an alternate spelling).

Hmmmm, can't tell what that red blob is supposed to be.

Looks like red chiles (not chilis).

Or a cardinal... I saw plenty of sticks w/red birds on 'em.

And if you try, you can save her. Keeping her on your shelves, but soon you'll be there too.

Well, looks like I'll just have to find out on my own... I am going back for a THIRD time this year in just a couple of weeks... This time with one or two guy friends. Although it was fun going with my wife, going back for thirds with a couple of friends will be just as fun I'm sure. I'm gonna search the threads a bit, but I THINK we'll camp out on South Rim this time around and do the extra trek that is open AND hit Emory Peak if we have time. Can't wait to get there, hit the rim, and find my stick with something other than tweety bird or a crazy looking eagle!

Rey :)

Beware of playing Scrabble with this guy; bring your own dictionary.

TPW (yuppies, all of them) used have a huge saguaro at Roy Bean's place;  they got rid of it when the redid the place a few years ago.
