Drive time question
« on: February 27, 2019, 04:32:48 PM »
Hi all. Headed to Big Bend Ranch S.P. End of March with some friends. We are meeting in Terlingua and will be headed to Guale 2 to camp. Does anyone know approximately how many hour drive it is between Barton Warnock to Guale 2? Trying to plan what time we need to leave to make it to camp before dark sets in on us.

Thanks Tom

Id say it would take a little less than 2 hours to go from Lajitas to the East Oslo Loop turnoff.  After that it completely depends on the vehicles and the drivers.  Id say give yourself as much time as possible.  Its much better if you take it slow, from a safety and enjoyment angle.   Maybe 5 hours of daylight?

Guale road is pretty rough, so expect slow going from the main road. Offhand, I'd guess 2.5 from Lajitas. I could darned near walk there in the same time from the West Rancherias TH. Take some time though because you will want to stop a few times along the way. Ojito Adentro and Canon de Los Bandidos are worth a stop and there is a composting toilet at Agua Adentro Pens.

Thanks for the info. Meet up and move out about 1 and get permits at Barton Warnock,  slow down and see the sights. Should be plenty of time. Ranger Tim thanks for the recommendations.  Just counting down the days now.

Thanks Tom
