we were about to on Wednesday, but it was a bit windy to be camping on the exposed end of the mesa so we switched to a more sheltered site.

the madrid falls road was in very good shape until the steep ascent onto the mesa in that corner of the park. it was easily doable in 4 low, but it was definitely rough. sharp rocks weren't as much of a concern as i was thinking they would be, and brush was a mild problem. NOTHING like the brush in Fresno Canyon 2 or 3 years ago. i think i only added a pinstripe or 2 this trip  :eusa_doh:

If it's not too late, my group and I tagged along with Barrett Durst, the Park Supt on a 4x4 tour down "wally" road in the beginning of February.  Easily doable in the big Suburban, I don't know that the truck was ever even remotely challenged.

Was @ Guale II from 3-3-2011 through 3-8-2011.  We took Oso west to Guale in and out we took Oso East to visit Sauceda.  Only one "bad" hole in the final leg of Guale II road but is now filled in with an hour or so of shoveling and a cold beverage or 2.   :icon_cool:  We prpbably averaged about 6 mph so expect a slow go.  Just got home last night, but I plan on adding a thread with pics asap.
