Fresno canyon 4 x4 trail in BBRSP
« on: January 02, 2017, 06:24:36 PM »
This looks to be a legal trail
Does anyone know where to pick up this trail up? It must be off 170. I think you can see the intrusion that Ranger Tim speaks of in this thread   http://www.bigbendchat.com/portal/forum/big-bend-ranch-state-park-qa/day-hike-off-fm-170/

I think the video is the Fresno canyon trail as you come in from the north, from Sauceda.  From what Ranger Tim has posted, there are no access points from 170.  The only road into the park is the main one coming in from the west to Sauceda.

I just got back from the park and had planned on this trail, however time didn't let me.
From what the Ranger on duty said, it is accessed from inside the park, east of the Sauceda station and it is back open.

Jalco called it. Fresno Canyon Road is accessed via Sauceda,... one way in, same way out. We just worked it so it is WAY better condition than in the video. Take it all the way down to Crawford-Smith, Rincon, or the mouth of Arroyo Mexicano. Lots of great stuff to see and a ton of great driving and hiking down there. One can camp down at Rincon 1&2 or at Fresno Canyon Campsite, as well as La Posta just on the road near the rim. It will take around 2 hours to Crawford-Smith from Sauceda, which makes around four from Lajitas!

Ranger Tim - do you think after your reworking of this road it would be drivable in a full sized pickup ?   (Like a 4wd F150)
A couple of the creek beds looked pretty narrow -

You can definitely get a full sized truck all the way to Crawford Smith or Rincon. Just rolled through there yesterday and its in great shape!
