Title: High elevation hikes?
Post by: Bobbie Fiasco on November 04, 2019, 01:54:03 PM
Hello Bend Friends. I am heading out to the ranch for the first time soon and I was wondering if there are any hikes you can recommend that get up nice and high for some views. It would have to be something accessible without a 4WD. Basically, is there a Chisos Basin of the Ranch? I've tried to google around and check out old threads here and don't see anything. Thanks!

Not really.  The highest point is Oslo Peak at something like 5200.  The view there is pretty cool, but access without at least high clearance would be sketchy.   There is none of that feel of a wetter cooler climate you get as you climb in the Chisos.

I did further research and found something that may fit the bill - I'll let y'all know here after for future people looking to learn from this thread. There is the West Rim Overlook that looks on the Flatiron. the trail is in the region of the Sauceda ranch house.
