Ice at Sauceda ?
« on: January 17, 2008, 12:15:19 PM »
I was wondering with all the new improvements and changes going on in the park, can a person aquire ice at the Sauceda store?   I know I need to bring everything I will need, and I am no stranger to drinking warm adult beverages, but ice is always a significant improvement.
For 2 years the Fake News Media, Obama's FBI, CIA & DOJ, and Swamp dwelling Politicians COLLUDED, Illegally Spied, and LIED to America about POTUS in order to overturn an election

All the while demanding censorship and removal of opposition Conservative "hate speech" voices.  Globalists Hate Freedom

I'd suggest calling the park and asking - and please report your findings back!   :icon_lol:

432-229-3416 is the reservation #, but they should know.  If you're staying at the house or lodge, you could always use the kitchen fridge, but you might have to share...

Actually, I don't remember seeing anything resembling a "store" there back in 2000, but we just stopped by and did a quick self-guided walk-through since there wasn't anybody around.  Could be the store was closed.  I do remember buying a PowerAde from the vending machine.

If not, the closest place is the RV park between Casa Piedra road and Presidio.  Other than that, it's in Presidio.  Either one is a haul.  Even if the BBRSP ranch HQ had ice, and I doubt any ice vendor would deliver out there @ $3.50 a gallon, it's a long haul to the HQ from virtually everywhere in the park.  Redford used to carry it, but last time I looked there wasn't much going on in Redford.  Carry all that you need.

I don't even know if they sell ice here...

The only place I remember seeing ice was at Baeza's in Presidio, or else in Study Butte/Terlingua.  None of the visitor's centers for BBR SP sell ice.

Warm drinks after a few days.

Enjoy the park

Baeza's in Presidio

Of course, it will proably not be Baeza's much longer.   :willynilly:

I do know that the Phillips 66/Texaco - whatever it is today big mega oligopoly station at the "weird" Y intersection does sell ice.  I like to do my shopping at the former Baeza's, but always generally went to the Phillips 66/Texaco station for gas as Baeza's generally had a long line and only a couple of pumps.

There is also a small white adobe building on the out skirts of town as you are going towards Fort Leaton that does sell ice.  Not a clue as to it's name.  It's just as you come out of the bend in town, not the 90 degree bend either.

QUIZ TIME;  What is the "mascot" of Presidio High School?

Yes you can get ice at Sauceda.  It's free although they do request a donation.

How much ice can I get, serious?  I have a 150qt igloo and generally carry the 75qt igloo chocked full of nothing but ice that is never opened until necessary.  Then, another igloo of frozen stuff that is only opened sparingly.

We iced up in Presidio and then after a few days in the park we topped off a couple of 50 quart chests.  They have a commercial ice machine that one can scoop from.  We probably took 15 - 20 lbs.  Obviously one would not want to abuse the privilege and be unfair to others.

Presidio, did you read that, the TPWD is giving away FREE ice @ BBRSP!  No reservations required at the ice machine.   :icon_lol:  No reservation cancellation fees at the ice machine!  Your tax dollars hard at working keeping the citizens beverages cool.  I wonder if this will be a trend at all state parks.

(You know I'm just joshing you.   :eusa_angel:)
