More compliments to BBRSP
« on: December 24, 2018, 10:35:05 AM »
Frustrated by the shut down, I called Barton Warnock Center with the most annoying kind of question: I'm desperate to get on the trail and have no idea what you can do for me (I had already done the Rancherias Loop)?

With sparkling enthusiasm and with absolute certainty, the nice lady behind the desk (April? or maybe Amanda?) told me to come on out and that they would help me figure something out.

I continue to be impressed with BBRSP.
Leave "quit" at the car.  Embrace the trail as your friend.  Expect to enjoy yourself, and to be amazed.

It must have been Amber,... and thank you. We have WAY more to hike than just the Rancherias Loop, we just currently have very little documentation regarding hiking loop options. I hope that will change soon, but in the meantime please post trip reports for any BBRSP adventures you create for yourself.

Enough good simply can't be said about the folks at BBRSP. Dang, we are lucky to have them (and it)!

I agree everyone was very helpful. We really liked the park. There's so much to see it's hard to focus on one area. It's not enough to just drive down the roads and say you've seen it. But it's definitely a place you need to be prepared to self rescue and to be aware of where you are. I'm planning on getting better hiking maps when we go back.

Everyone was incredibly helpful and OH SO Friendly and patient.
My group arrived around 2:30 PM on the 27th and Vi Dotter and another lady (Ranger) were handling the crowd of folks there to check in.
They were both graceful and pleasant, even with a gentleman who was trying to cut the line because he couldn't bother to wait his turn. (He stomped out throwing a small tantrum when called out on it, later to return hoping we didn't recognize him, haha)
On the 28th & 29th it wasn't as crowded when we were at Sauceda, but these two ladies were still all smiles.
Also, we met another ranger as we were driving to Presidio to resupply our fuel and have lunch at El Patio.  I believe it was Mr. Dotter, from what I was told.
The staff at Ft. Leaton was friendly and helpful, but had a little trouble navigating the reservation system when we tried to let them know we wouldn't camp overnight after all.  I'm thinking part of the problem was the amount of people both at the park and swamping the call center in Austin.
My Group had a fantastic time this year and the staff at BBRSP made it that way!  :)
