This website is dedicated to Peaceful Valley's project to save the Big Bend Ranch Wild Burros. Supporters will be able to track the progress of the project and find out where help is needed. This is a huge undertaking and we need help on many levels. There are approximately 400 burros living in the Big Bend Ranch State Park (BBRSP). Once a capture plan is formulated, each captured burro must be transported to Miles, TX where they will be given a complete medical screening. Once they have been given a clean bill of health, all jacks (males) will be castrated. Finally, all of the burros must be gentled in order that they be placed in adoptive homes. The first phase of this project will commence on January 14th, 2008. Mark Meyers, Executive Director of Peaceful Valley, will tour the park with Regional Director Mile Hill of the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department. It is during this tour that an initial capture plan will be drafted.
