Basin Campground reopened?
« on: November 23, 2010, 10:22:37 PM »
I'm planning on pulling into BiBe sometime Friday evening or night and want to stay at the Basin CG.  Has anyone been there since it reopened?  Any big differences?

It may be that I'll end up somewhere other than the Basin Friday night, since I don't have a reservation, but I'll certainly be there no later than Monday.

Any big happenings this weekend or next week it would be good to know about?

I haven't been up there since it reopened, but do remember Thanksgiving is the busiest time in the park.

I camped there Thursday, 11/18.  It is open, and the newly paved road is nice!  The campsite pull-ins have been leveled out with base material and repaved also.  Other than that, nothing had changed.  Even by 11/18, it was getting pretty full.

We just spent three nights there. The roads were a little confusing to me, as they've closed off a few sections. The bathrooms have new tiles on the wall, but not hooks or anything on the walls to hang stuff on. They hadn't reinstalled the window latches, so you couldn't use them either. Next time I think I'll bring some screw-in hooks to donate. One positive is the dishwashing sinks are now up at waist level, so the skunks will no longer be able or inclined to scavenge food scraps.

Thanks for the replies.  Yeah, I know Thanksgiving is going to be busy.  I doubt I'll get a campsite at the Basin until Sunday unless I'm lucky.  Glad it hasn't changed much anyway.  I'm hitting the road in a few minutes!!

Traffic hasn't been bad but the rain has not been pleasant at all.  It finally quit about a hundred miles east of Dallas as the sun was going down.  I'm just outside Big D now, gonna try to make it another 3 or 4 hours down the road.
