2014 Calendar Nominations
« on: September 03, 2013, 11:05:34 AM »
Time to start the nominations for our 2014 Calendar!

Any photo by a BigBendChat member ever posted to the board that hasn't been in a previous calendar is eligible. Keep in mind that horizontal landscape images will work best. I am open to combining images from a single photographer, should anyone have any panoramic or vertically composed shots that would look good together. Optimum aspect ratio is 1.45 width/height. When nominating, try to post a link to the source (trip report, etc). If it's from the gallery, please post a link to the page for the image instead of just the image itself.

Deadline for nominations will be Oct. 15.

For anyone new around here, last year's calendar can be viewed here:
http://www.lulu.com/shop/richardm-bigbendchatcom/big-bend-national-park-2013-calendar/calendar/product-20523287.html

Please note that all photographers with photos voted into the calendar will need to submit high-resolution versions of their photos, as well as consent to having their pictures published in the calendar. If I am unable to get permission, it doesn't matter how many votes a picture gets, it won't be going in the calendar.

Should we somehow limit the number of selected entries per poster to one so we can try to diversify the type of shots and include more participants? I donít know HOW to limit this so that it wonít skew the vote, but maybe as the images start getting voted up and IF a submitter has more than one voted up, they could select one from the bunch so THAT image can go to the final vote? Again, not sure how it can be done to avoid skewing the numbers, but I think it might be great to somehow change the vote a bit to include more people in the final product.

Yeh, we discussed limiting images from a single photographer a while back. I forget the consensus. I think it was 3.

Sounds like a good rule to me.

I don't think we need to complicate the usual process. Just have people vote as usual. When the final tally comes in, just knock out the fourth, fifth, etc. photos from any single photographer (provided that happens).

Thanks for the reminder. I knew there was something I was forgetting. No more than 3 submissions per photographer will go into the calendar.

I know it'd be messing with your artistic composition, but how about cropping the right side of this one to get it closer to the calendar aspect ratio?
