2018 Calendar Nominations
« on: September 07, 2017, 01:48:58 PM »
Time to start the nominations for our 2018 Calendar!

Any photo by a BigBendChat member ever posted to the board that hasn't been in a previous calendar is eligible. Keep in mind that horizontal landscape images will work best. I am open to combining images from a single photographer, should anyone have any panoramic or vertically composed shots that would look good together. Optimum aspect ratio is 1.45 width/height. When nominating, try to post a link to the source (trip report, etc). If it's from the gallery, please post a link to the page for the image instead of just the image itself.

Deadline for nominations will be Monday, October 23 at 8:00PM.

For anyone new around here, the last seven calendars can be viewed here:
2017
2016
2015
2014
2013
2012
2011

Please note that all photographers with photos voted into the calendar will need to submit high-resolution versions of their photos, as well as consent to having their pictures published in the calendar. If I am unable to get permission, it doesn't matter how many votes a picture gets, it won't be going in the calendar. No more than 3 submissions per photographer will go into the calendar.

I will get the ball rolling. If you click on the images below it will take you to my Flickr account where you can view a high resolution version full screen.

First two pics are from my Sierra Quemada trip.

Elephant Tusk and Backbone Ridge from the summit of Dominguez Mountain:

Sunset behind Mule Ears from the Smokey Creek basin.

The third picture is from my trip to the Mesa de Anguila.

The Rio Grande and Sierra Ponce of Mexico from atop the Mesa de Anguila at sunrise.

I roamed and rambled, and I foller'ed my footsteps
To the sparkling sands of her diamond deserts
And all around me a voice was a'sounding
This land was made for you and me

Post them either as an embedded image or a link to the file.

For example, I'll nominate this picture from VivaTerlingua

The code to embed the image is which yields

I'll also nominate these from the same topic:

For the last 12 years, long-time Terlingua resident and former river ranger Marcos Paredes has taken food and presents to the children of Boquillas on Christmas Day. Marcos and some of his friends and neighbors have bought presents for the children plus turkeys and hams for their families, and delivered them personally.

You can mail a check directly to Marcos Paredes, PO Box 131 Terlingua TX 79852 or donate online (and read more and see more pictures) at http://terlinguamusic.com/santa/

There's always next year. Although pics can only be in a calendar once (at least until I change the rules, which ain't likely), they can be nominated in different years. So, everyone is welcome to review previous nominations and re-nominate their faves that didn't make the top 13. :)
