Ok, I'm waiting on the pic of the star trails over Mule Ears, one of my favorites. I'm not having any luck getting a response from Solo, the owner of the pic. I've sent an email and a personal message, but have received no response yet. I'm worried we're going to run out of time to order before Christmas. So, I'm giving him one more day to contact me, then the 13th pic will take its place in the calendar this time tomorrow evening.

If anyone happens do know Solo personally, if you could reach out to him, that'd be great.

Thanks,
David

I guess it's a no go for the star trail over Mule Ears. It's a real shame because I really liked that one.  I can't get Solo to respond to my PMs or direct emails, so that means JTemples got another beautiful pic in the calender!  Lucky number 13 it is!

Does anyone have a good quote from Richard that might be a good one to put in the calender?   I've been looking but I can't seem to find the perfect one.  Any suggestions?

Mine would have to be looking out over the South Rim at the desert bathed in moonlight.

If I only had a picture to go along with that. I have a moonlight pic of the Chisos, but not off the rim.

It's another reference to the night and moon, but ....

The thing about Richard was his modesty and quiet goodness.  He never tooted his own horn (just his trombone). And that can make it hard to find a quote from him that honors him in the way he deserves to be honored.  CG, I know your choice is going to be perfect.  If it were me, on the other hand, with my wildly inappropriate sense of humor, I'd probably go with this bumper sticker meme, 'cause Richard was also sly and dry.....

So I was perusing the Backpacking and Hiking Texas Facebook page and came across an OML topic. Someone said they hoped it wouldn't be too hot on the OML when they tried it March 28. Someone promptly responded "It shouldn't be to hot in March."

For some reason I was reminded of one of the few times I've mentioned BigBendChat to park rangers and got the response "Oh, there's a lot of misinformation on that site."

That encounter (which happened twice with the same ranger, albeit a few years apart) inspired this:

Here's what I came up with:

It would not let me do a back cover, so it will be on the Jan 2021 page.
