How many regularly contributing members do you have?  100? 200?  Take that number & multiply by 10?  15?  20?

I have two regularly contributing members right now, which I am very grateful to.  There are a few dozens generous members who have contributed since I started the donation process, which I am grateful to as well.

I've been using the same server here for years.  The problem now is, this website is database dependent.  The database and the PHP driven web pages that drive the site are not on the same server, so we have two servers that could have potential problems (and communication blocks between the two servers) along with the fact that we have several other websites around the web (which are unknown to us) that share both the database server and the webserver.  This is called "virtual" dedicated hosting which is MUCH cheaper than dedicated but also is a contributing factor for us in this situation.

Personally, I want this site to be up and running 100% of the time with fast, smooth load times.  It isn't happening right now.   This site, as I want it to, is growing and growing and will hopefully never stop growing.  A dedicated server is in its future just not sure when that will be.  I'm actually looking at several options right now, so hopefully we'll be on a dedicated server fairly soon.

TRTLROCK, thanks for your donation....I am always very grateful to everyone who contributes a single cent at any time.

D'oh!  What I meant was how many members POST on a regular basis?  Not how many contribute financially...

Anyway, I'm a good example.  There are the links all over the pages, staring me in the face.  But they are kind of small, and they don't really stand out, frankly.

More importantly, however, is that human nature dictates that we all just groove along, enjoying BBC, and not giving it a second thought.  I mean, until the site got slow, and you implied that it would take financial wherewithal to fix the problem -- well, I didn't give a moment's thought to contributing.  Doesn't make me a bad person or anything -- just never crossed my mind.

So -- DON'T BE SHY DAVID!!  Send out a separate "special" post soliciting contributions.  I bet you'll be surprised what comes in.  Assuming, of course, that people can actually get online & read the special posting!  Ha!

I'm thinking trtlrock has just provided this "special" post. It is enough for me. I fall into the same category, when I see the make a donation button, I say I should do that. Will have to find a way to contribute.

It has been working well now the last couple of hours, at least the times I have checked it.

I'm in for what I can at this stage...feeding 3 teens...one in college...down to one income and that is from the state...'nough said.

Aaannnyyyway...I will send what I can when I can to help. Hopefully others will do the same.

Also, it doesn't offend me if I have to be slapped up side the head once in a while. A post now and then requesting funds is okay by me.

Very slow this morning and finally quit responding at all.  After restarting my own machine it is doing better.
