Flashback - The faces of Big Bend Chat
« on: July 09, 2018, 08:41:18 AM »
I got sucked into the internet vortex last night and found myself looking for archived snapshots of Big Bend Chat from way back when.

Some of you have been around since the beginning, 13 years ago, and may recognize what BBC looked like.

We'll start with this shot of the home page which existed from May 2005 to about June of 2006.......

Ive only been here since 2016 and I have to say I have learned some much from the folks here. Thank you for creating this. I only get out to the Bend once or twice a year and this place helps keep the itch away. You made a wonderful thing Casa Grande. A very deep Thank You sir!

I have seen them all but my memory of the early ones is a bit hazy.   :eusa_whistle:

Lol.. yes. The first one I clearly put zero thought into the design of it.   I made a cheesy logo image and uploaded it to the standard template.   Done. I didn't want to put much into it if it didn't go anywhere.

And there was the old message board - I've forgotten what it was even called.

Before that - around 1995 - there was a guy (maybe a professor) who had a bunch of Big Bend related links on his site.  Recollect who that was?  Maybe a professor?

I think you're thinking of a Geology Professor from Tech? I know he had some.

Could be Tom Lehman.  I know he used to have summer camps in Big Bend for his students and his specialty is Clastic Sedimentology.

My Favorite!
The designs/images on the green border gave it a ....luxurious (maybe classy is a better word for it?) feel to it IMO.
Didn't you change the border to Blue during Bluebonnet season? Any screen shots of that?

Who knew years ago that someday we'd wax nostalgic for old web site designs.

Lol,  yes it is funny.   Although the late 90's had some pretty terrible stuff.  Remember all dancing gifs and cheesy banners scrolling at the top?

I do faintly remember having a bluebonnet style at one point and maybe a others.  I had a habit of experimenting with different things.
