Here we go again....we're moving
« on: November 20, 2010, 05:39:39 PM »
Well, here we go again, folks....going to move to yet another new server for the 2nd time in 6 months.  Our current server is inadequate and technically challenging.  I have begun the process of moving to the new server.  It will take a few days.  I'll let you know of further details as they are acquired.  I hope you guys are enjoying yourselves here.  Richard and I are trying to make this site 99.9% free of technical errors.

thanks,
David

No thank you and Richard, it is more than enjoyment, it is a link to sanity.  We await yet another new and improved site.   :eusa_clap:

Oops, I was only shooting for 99.44%. :icon_redface:

And, yes Homero, I miss those ?s, too. It'll also be nice to not have quote marks get screwed up as well, and to be able to search, and lots of other stuff...

And for anyone with technical issues for the next 4 days or so, don't bother trying to contact me as I'll be out in Big Bend and I didn't bring my laptop!  :eusa_dance:

Hope you have a great trip to the Bend, Richard!  I can't blame you for not taking the laptop.  I left mine at home for my last trip and it was refreshing not having the urge to check emails, job postings, etc.

UPDATE: Here we go again....we're moving

Site will be moving in the next 24 hours and should only be "down," meaning no write access to the database for about an hour. For some, it could take 24 hours to propagate through the network.  Once the new server is set up and going, I'll be shutting down the site for maintenance.   This means you will only be able to view the database, not write to it.  So no posting will be allowed until we are at the new server.   Once the maintenance alert is over, we'll be back to normal and on the new server without any major hiccups, I hope  :crossedfingers:

OK, folks....we're just about ready for prime time.  In a few short minutes, you'll find the board on Maintenance Mode.  This means you will not be able to post until the move is completed.  This will take anywhere between 1 hour and 24 hours, depending on your ISP.  When you see the forum open again, it will be on the new server and posting will commence once again.......let's get started.....stand by

Don't forget to clear your browser cache.  This will avoid any possible confusion with the other server.

thanks,
David

And DON'T FORGET TO BECOME A GOLDEN EAGLE and contribute some $$ to this site.
Some of you have been on for a long time (you know who you are) and if everyone was a cheapskate and didn't contribute this site would be dead.   So give thanks for all you have this holiday season and step up to the plate and join.    I won't call you out by name but you know who you are.   TWWG
