Boxers or briefs?

Moderator note: this topic was split off from the Cross Timbers Trail report. It should also be noted that the Moderator recommends this types of shorts as well and that he wears the cheap knockoffs available at Academy Sports when he remembers to pack them for any hiking trips.

These are well worth every penny to prevent the need of baby powder: http://www.rei.com/product/694431

I already have some exofficio briefs, but not with the longer legs on them.
I guess it is the fat part that is causing the issues.....
But I'm working on it!
Are we there yet?

I'm not a boxers person myself, but I got the boxer briefs to help prevent the chafing.  I was really happy to have them on my day hike to the south rim.

I love my exofficio boxer briefs!  I don't hike in anything else.  If I could afford it, I'd replace every pair of undies I own with them.

Years ago, I wad hiking with a friend and his 13 year old son at the time.  The kid kept complaining of his legs chaffing.  He was wearing boxers.  I told him next time to wear briefs to his horror.  After several days in the upper Chisos with boxers,  he became a brief believer.  He was more prepared and mote comfortable on the next trip.

Personally, I won't devulge my unmentionable secrets (ah hem), but I never hit the trail without my Monkey Butt powder!

bk, is that a recommendation made from personal experience?  I LOVE the price difference. Almost 10 to 1.
