You can always put the pad between the footprint and your tent bottom.

Yep! It IS big. I use a 3 man REI Taj tent for my non-backpacking shelter. The Aerobed twin took up about 2/3rds of the floor area. Didn't really bother me since I was camping solo. I still had plenty of room for the stuff that tends to accumulate in my tent over the course of several days.

That's one problem with the el-cheapo mattresses I've seen - the size.  At least inside a tent, a twin is just waaayy too big.

All I know is when I went to sleep, my feet weren't touching the end of the tent, but in the morning they were. Happened all three nights we were at that site.

You can always put the pad between the footprint and your tent bottom. 

That would probably work better with a pad than the 6 inch think inflatable mattress I borrowed for the trip.

A little slide and my feet touching the tent by morning would be the least of my worries. If you slept long enough to notice the difference when you awoke, you did well, my friend. What with getting up for making water a few times and tossing around all night, checking my watch - if I manage to sleep for one uninterrupted hour, I count myself lucky.
